Abstract

This full research paper explores the application of the learning-focused model of education in teaching social psychology to international students. The presentation examines how aligning curriculum design, teaching methodologies, and assessment practices with learning-focused principles can enhance student engagement and comprehension in diverse educational settings. The session will highlight practical strategies for creating culturally responsive learning experiences that address the unique needs of international students while maintaining academic rigor.

Jame Bryan Batara, Alexander College

I am an experienced educator and researcher with over 12 years in higher education, currently a Psychology Instructor at Alexander College, BC. I hold a Master's in Education specializing in diversity-responsive teaching and a Master of Arts in Social Psychology focusing on prosocial behaviours and applied social psychology. Recognized for teaching excellence in the Philippines and Canada, I actively research culturally responsive education to contribute to inclusive psychology teaching.
