Abstract

This full research paper examines practical steps and strategies for advancing women into higher-level leadership positions. Drawing on extensive research and real-world applications, the presentation will outline specific interventions at individual, organizational, and systemic levels that effectively address barriers to women's advancement. Key focus areas include mentorship programs, policy reforms, leadership development approaches, organizational culture shifts, and work-life integration strategies specifically designed to support women's leadership journeys. Evidence-based recommendations for implementation will be provided.

Author Biography

Penny Farley, University Canada West

Dr. Penny Farley has spent her career in education in order to forward the cause of advancing women into leadership roles. She holds a research based PhD from the University of Exeter (UK) in Leadership and has more than 30 years of experience as a teacher, administrator, small business owner, author, curriculum designer, teacher trainer, life coach and mentor. She has owned and run her own small business and mentored other women who want to do the same. She has Co-authored a textbook on Canadian Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management, and has authored several book chapters on Diversity in Management. Living and working overseas in Japan, Hong Kong, and the UAE (Dubai,) before returning to her hometown of Vancouver, has given Penny a unique global perspective on leadership and how to best develop Canadian leaders.
