Abstract

This presentation explores strategies for developing a robust culture of academic integrity within educational institutions. Drawing from practical experience and research, the session will address proactive approaches to preventing academic misconduct, effective remediation practices for students who have violated integrity policies, and institutional frameworks that promote ethical academic behavior. The presentation emphasizes how building a culture of integrity requires a multifaceted approach involving policy development, education, technology, and community engagement.

Evan Daigle, Alexander College

My name is Evan Daigle, and I am the manager of the Writing & Learning Centre at Alexander College in Burnaby. I have a background in teaching English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and developing learning resources (digital and physical) for international students. In addition to supporting students with their academic skills, I have been involved with processing cases of academic misconduct, remediating students that have been caught cheating or plagiarizing, and coordinating and supervising finals exams at Alexander College.
